Behind every smooth operation is someone quietly keeping the wheels turning—and for us, that someone is Erin Mouw. As our Executive Assistant, Erin is often working behind the scenes, but her impact is felt everywhere, from scheduling and staff support to donor relations and vendor coordination. Thoughtful, capable, and endlessly kind, Erin brings a unique mix of organizational skill and heart to her role every single day.
A Holland native, Erin has deep roots in both the community and HAC itself. “I grew up here,” she says. “I made lots of core memories doing age-group swimming. All of my siblings worked here, and I spent countless hours watching my brothers swimming and diving here.” It’s no surprise that, when a job opened that matched her strengths and talents, Erin felt called to apply—and quickly became a vital part of the team.
Erin graduated from Hope College in 2015 with a degree in social work. Before joining the HAC team, she worked at Community Action House helping launch the Food Club, and later became a stay-at-home mom—a role that brought joy but could also feel isolating. “My role at HAC allows me to use my skills, exercise my brain, and be part of a wonderful community,” she says.
Now a full-time team member, Erin supports Executive Director Amanda Duimstra, the Authority and Foundation boards, and the EOS Focus Team. She keeps projects moving, manages schedules, processes donations, and administers fundraising campaigns and swim lesson scholarships. She’s recently added uniform management, concessions, hospitality, and vendor communication to her ever-growing list of responsibilities.
Despite her many roles, Erin maintains a grounded, joyful presence. She credits Amanda’s belief in her for boosting her own confidence. “Amanda has a lot of faith in me, which gives me faith in myself,” Erin shares. “That’s such a gift in a supervisor.”
Outside of work, Erin finds joy in thrift shopping, birdwatching, and telling bedtime stories to her kids. She loves animals of all kinds, enjoys being silly, and deeply values quality time spent with family and friends. Her favorite local spot is Lemonjello’s, a place woven into many chapters of her life, from her first date with her now-husband to taking wedding photos to their daughter’s first outing as a newborn.
One more fun fact? Erin is a two-time state champion in storytelling (yes, really!) which explains her natural ability to connect, communicate, and bring warmth to every space she’s in!
