History of the HAC

Since 1968, the Holland community has relied on Holland Aquatic Center for access to high-quality natatorium facilities for swimming instruction, competitive swimming, community wellness and access for leisure swimming and play. HAC has a long history of community partnership, originally operating as part of the Holland Public School system.

Operating funds for the Aquatic Center come from visitor and membership fees as well as a millage paid by those living in the Holland Public School District (not to exceed 1 mill). These tax dollars support free swim lessons for local school children, free admission on Resident Appreciation days, and discounted single visit passes and memberships for all residents. Operating a community pool also saves multiple public school districts the operating costs of an on-site school pool.

Since our inception, we have experienced growth across all of our programs. HAC’s 2021 expansion and renovation ensured everyday access for all ages and families. This work was paid through a separate millage vote.
