Holland Aquatic Center Announces New Facility Opening Date in 2022
The Holland Aquatic Center plans to officially open the facility’s new renovation and expansion on January 31st, 2022.
Holland, MI — The Holland Aquatic Center has announced an official grand reopening date of January 31st, 2022. The opening comes two and a half years after Holland voters passed a bond millage renewal in May 2019, designating funds toward the center’s renovation and expansion to support additional community use capabilities.
“As we continue to grow, we’re striving to make the Holland Aquatic Center a hub for community wellness for every member of our community,” said Jack Huisingh, Executive Director of HAC. “This renovation and expansion will allow us to better serve West Michigan families, and we’re deeply thankful to the supportive voters, donors and members who have all helped to make our continued evolution possible.”
In addition to the center’s previous amenities, the newly updated facility will offer access to a warm-water leisure pool, a new 6-lane lap pool, an updated and expanded children’s play area, a new climate-controlled track, a large spa, a steam room, a sauna, a new fitness space and a group fitness classroom. The children’s play area will feature a zero-entry wading pool, a lazy river and a larger water slide.
“The Aquatic Center’s construction remains on-time and on-budget, and we fully expect they’ll be able to open their doors to the public in early 2022,” said Greg Maybury, Construction Owner’s Representative.
The Aquatic Center is open during the next phase of construction, with access to locker rooms, the competitive swimming pool, the current fitness room, the warm-water therapy pool and the instructional swimming pool. The children’s Splash Zone will close for planned construction after November 27th, 2021. The Aquatic Center is hosting their annual Thanksgiving children’s play times to send off the old play area.
