Luis Magana is a lifeguard at HAC. A native of Holland, Michigan, he is a 2017 West Ottawa High School graduate. Luis started his career at HAC in January, 2022, after becoming Red Cross-lifeguard-certified here. He’s always wanted to become a first responder and now he is. His ultimate goal is to become a firefighter one day.
Favorite vacation: Trip to east Pennsylvania with some friends
Favorite movie: King Kong. “Ever since my daughter was born, she’s two now, that line — “No, it wasn’t the airplanes, it was beauty that killed the beast.” — it gets me every time.”
Favorite book: Any book from the Percy Jackson series
Favorite food: Pozole Verde. “It’s a soup with garbanzo beans and chicken or pork that my mom makes for me on my birthday every year.”
Favorite sport: Wrestling. “I was a high school wrestler. It taught disciple and hard work and how to overcome challenges, both physical and mental.”
