The community-focused expansion will feature a new kids play area, warm-water pool, spa, sauna, steam room and two philanthropy-funded enhancements: an indoor track and group fitness room.

Holland, MI — On October 5th, during the Holland Aquatic Center (HAC) Donors and Friends tour, representatives announced they are on target for a January opening with philanthropy-funded enhancements including an indoor track. The Happy Families, Healthy Communities campaign has reached 71% of its $3 million dollar goal. The capital campaign complements the $26.3 million millage that Holland voters passed in May of 2019 for renovation and expansion.

In addition to the warm-water leisure pool, lap pool, children’s play area, and more included in the milage funds, HAC will utilize donor funds to add an indoor climate-controlled track, group fitness space and a covered entryway. The foundation hopes to raise the remaining $900,000 to complete the group fitness space, an entryway overhang and a greater expansion on the center’s lobby. The entryway will allow for safe four-season access for all visitors and bus drop offs.

“We are so grateful to the voters of Holland and the supporters of the foundation for helping to make Holland Aquatic Center a world-class wellness center for our community and visitors,” said Jack Huisingh, executive director. “Through the voters’ support, we’ll be able to serve every age, every family, every day,  and now with the additional support of our donors, we’ll be able to expand our service offerings and focus from aquatics to complete wellness for the Holland Community.

The event also included a preview of the facility’s new logo and brand, which will begin rolling out this winter in support of the launch.

“Our organization is making a transition to a more modern architecture and expanding our wellness services to include not only competitive, instructional and leisure swimming but also fitness and rehabilitation,” said Huisingh. “It was important to us to have a more flexible and refreshed visual brand that will serve us for years to come.”
