We Are HAC! – Corrin Buck

If you’ve spent any time around our swim lesson programs or school partnerships, chances are you’ve seen the energy and expertise of Corrin Buck in action. As the Instructional Program Manager at HAC, Corrin brings decades of experience, a deep love of swimming, and a lifelong passion for teaching to every aspect of her role.

Corrin grew up in Maryland (just outside of Washington, D.C.) and didn’t begin swimming seriously until her junior year of high school. She went on to attend Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania, where she earned her degree in health and physical education with a specialization in aquatics. A certified K–12 teacher, Corrin also holds a master’s degree in athletic administration.

Before joining the team at HAC, Corrin taught middle and high school health and physical education for Harper Creek Community Schools. Alongside her teaching career, she coached high school swimming for 26 years and middle school swimming for 29 years. In total, her coaching journey spans an incredible 36 years—beginning immediately after college with a role coaching the Clarion University (PA) swim and dive teams. She has been recognized numerous times for her service and commitment to coaching, receiving such titles as Coach of the Year, Regional Coach of the Year, and Zone Coach of the Year—twice!

Corrin is not only an accomplished coach but also a decorated swimmer herself. She holds multiple state and national titles in women’s Masters swimming, continuing to prove that dedication, competitive spirit, and love for the sport never fade.

She describes her current position at HAC as “a wonderful package that I’ve always dreamed about.” It’s a role that allows her to bring together her two biggest professional loves: teaching and swimming. As our Instructional Program Manager, she leads our school swim lesson program—something she always dreamed of creating during her time as a teacher.

That dream has deep roots. Nearly a decade ago, Corrin’s district’s middle school pool was shut down due to budget constraints. She stood in front of the board of education and advocated passionately for aquatics programming to remain a priority, citing the essential need for water safety education, especially for children. That moment reflects who Corrin is at her core: a fierce advocate for access, safety, and the transformative power of learning to swim.

Corrin is motivated by watching kids have “a-ha moments” and overcome their fears. She finds so much joy in watching young swimmers accomplish new things and grow confident in and around the water. “I love that I still get to be in a teacher mindset,” she says. “Every day I get to help kids build skills and learn how to be safe.”

And when she needs a little encouragement herself, she remembers the best advice she ever received from her friends and training partners: “Have faith in your training.”

We’re so lucky to have Corrin on our team. Her leadership, her compassion, and her vision have made our instructional programs what they are today. The next time you’re at HAC, be sure to say hello—you just might catch her in one of those great “a-ha” moments she loves so much.
